Ingredients
- 1 9-inch deep dish pie shell
- 4 green onions (thinly sliced)
- 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/3 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 oz smoked ham (chopped)
- 1 ½ cups shredded colby jack or cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 large eggs
- Seasonings: garlic salt, black pepper, onion powder, ground mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Prick the bottom of the pie shell and bake for 5 minutes.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté green onions and bell peppers until softened (2–3 minutes).
- Layer half the ham and cheese in the pie shell.
- In a bowl, whisk together cream, eggs, and seasonings; fold in sautéed vegetables.
- Pour half the custard over the first layer; repeat layering with remaining ham, cheese, and custard.
- Bake on a baking sheet for 10 minutes; then reduce temperature to 350°F and continue baking for another 30–40 minutes until set.
- Let cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
