  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar (for filling)
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry syrup by heating mashed strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan until bubbling. Thicken with cornstarch mixed with cold water, stirring for about 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix cream cheese, vanilla extract, and remaining sugar until smooth.
  3. Slice French bread into thick pieces and cut slits for stuffing. Fill each slice with cream cheese mixture.
  4. Heat butter in a skillet over low-medium heat. Dip each stuffed slice into the egg mixture and place in the skillet.
  5. Cook for about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Serve warm topped with strawberry syrup.
