  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Chocolate skulls (for decoration)
  • Fresh blackberries (for decoration)
  • Dried rose petals (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, hot coffee, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
