Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, and sugar. Add flour, sourdough discard, egg, chopped herbs, salt, and garlic powder. Mix on low speed while adding melted butter until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 3–4 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it to rise for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare the topping by mixing softened butter with herbs, garlic powder, and salt.
- Divide the risen dough into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece, spread with topping mixture, fold in half, and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes while preheating the oven to 350℉.
- Bake for about 30 minutes; cover with foil for an additional 5–10 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with remaining topping mixture and sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving warm.
