Ingredients
- 3–6 uncooked lasagna noodles (no-boil preferred)
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 cups spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×5 loaf pan.
- If using traditional lasagna noodles, cook them until al dente; otherwise, skip this step for no-boil noodles.
- In a skillet, heat vegetable oil and brown ground beef with onions and carrots. Drain excess grease and add minced garlic and spaghetti sauce; simmer.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, basil, and salt.
- Layer the bottom of the loaf pan with sauce, followed by noodles, ricotta mixture, beef mixture, repeating layers until ingredients are used up.
- Top with remaining noodles and sauce; sprinkle with remaining cheeses.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes (20 if using traditional noodles). Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
