  • 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
  • ½ cup cold heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice blend
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chai spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice blend, and salt. Pulse until mixed.
  3. Add cold butter cubes and pulse until crumbly.
  4. Mix in the chilled cream and egg mixture until a dough forms.
  5. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Brush with reserved egg wash and bake for 20–22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt.
  9. Dip cooled scones into glaze and let set before serving.
