  • 4 1/25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 packets (about 4 1/2 tsp) rapid-rise yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • For filling: 1/4 cup unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and cinnamon
  • For icing: cream cheese, unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat water and butter until warm; mix into dry ingredients along with the egg. Gradually add remaining flour to form soft dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let rise covered in an oiled bowl for about 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out dough onto a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over it; sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll tightly from one long edge and cut into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; mix in powdered sugar and vanilla to prepare icing.
  8. Frost warm rolls before serving.
