- 1 tbsp cornstarch (divided)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Optional: 1 tsp grated ginger, chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the beef: Combine sliced beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix together remaining soy sauce (3 tbsp), oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch (1 tbsp), and water or broth.
- Cook the beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over high heat. Add marinated beef and cook until browned (about 2–3 minutes per side). Remove from skillet.
- Stir-fry vegetables: Add remaining oil; stir-fry peppers and onion for about 3–4 minutes. Mix in garlic and ginger; cook for another 30 seconds.
- Combine: Return beef to skillet; pour in the sauce and stir until everything is coated. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until thickened.
