  • 2 packs frozen udon noodles
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp gochujang
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup reserved noodle water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp gochugaru

Instructions

  1. Cook frozen udon noodles according to package instructions; reserve ½ cup noodle water before draining.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic and shallots until fragrant.
  3. Add gochujang and cook for about 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and reserved noodle water; add soy sauce and gochugaru. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Toss cooked noodles in the sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Serve garnished with green onions, grated parmesan, and an optional egg yolk.
