Description

Chili Garlic Udon Noodles are a delightful fusion of savory umami flavors and a spicy kick, making them the perfect quick meal for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g udon noodles
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 thumb fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp chili oil
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark rice vinegar
  • 4 tbsp granola/peanut oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mince garlic and ginger; combine in a heatproof bowl with chili oil, chili flakes, salt, and sesame seeds.
  2. Heat granola/peanut oil in a small saucepan until smoking, then pour over the garlic mixture.
  3. Add soy sauce, dark rice vinegar, and sesame oil to the bowl; stir until blended.
  4. Boil water in a pot; cook udon noodles according to package instructions until soft. Drain thoroughly.
  5. Toss drained noodles in the garlic chili oil mixture to coat evenly. Serve topped with a fried egg and garnish as desired.
