  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (for filling)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • scant ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup milk chocolate chips
  • flaky finishing salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 metal baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, brown sugar, salt, and flour until crumbly. Press firmly into the pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, honey, heavy cream, and salt over medium heat until bubbling. Stir in vanilla extract and coconut.
  4. Pour the filling over the crust and bake for an additional 12 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle over cooled bars; let set before slicing.
