Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh salmon
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Remove the salmon from the fridge and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Cut into four pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, lemon juice, ginger, Worcestershire sauce, chicken broth (or water), and cornstarch until combined.
  3. Heat olive oil and one tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon skin-side down and cook for about 5 minutes until crispy.
  4. Carefully flip the salmon, reduce heat to medium, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until nearly cooked through.
  5. Add remaining butter to the skillet and pour in the sauce around the salmon. Let it bubble for about 20-30 seconds.
  6. Remove from heat once thickened slightly. Flip each piece of salmon to coat well in sauce and serve immediately.
