  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar; add the egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce, mixing until smooth.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; gently stir in the diced apples.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar with apple cider to create a glaze.
  8. Brush warm fritter bites with glaze and broil for 2–4 minutes until caramelized.
  9. Allow cooling for about 15 minutes before serving.
